SIDE ONE

(turntable recording of a lo-fi enterprise, recorded with two mics on a Fostex cassette 4-track)

front cover art

Cyndee and Argon, two of our friends from Olympia, came to visit us in Vancouver in 1991 while Mecca Normal still had the BookWorld rehearsal space across from the back of the American Hotel on Main Street.

Cyndee was primarily a bass player and I recall her hands shaking as I taped the drum sticks to them so she could keep playing. "Tough cookie," thought I.

credits

released January 1, 1991
David Lester on bass
Jean Smith vocals & guitar
Cyndee Baudhuin on drums
Argon Steel on guitar.

A two song 7" on Smarten UP! Records 002 (this is the next thing we released after the first Mecca Normal album in 1986).

Recorded by Jean Smith at Sounds Fine to Me Studios and mixed at Yo Yo in Olympia with Calvin Johnson and Pat Maley.

Cover art: each cover hand painted by Jean (one stroke of gesso and another of water-based paint).

Edition: approximately 500 (not sure on that).
